Small Business Saturday coming up

November 27, 2024

Your family may be chasing deals on Black Friday, but the shopping weekend doesn’t end there. Saturday is Small Business Saturday.

Steve Roberts, president of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce, said, “While people are making their shopping lists and getting ready for their Friday shopping, don’t forget about your local small businesses that are really expecting you and eager for you to come in the door Friday and Saturday.”

Mikayla Dent, owner of small business Ooh La Lucy, said Small Business Saturday is her favorite day of the year.

“It is the best feeling to see our doors just constantly opening with friendly faces and people excited to shop, see the new arrivals, and at the end of the day, they are here to support small businesses,” Dent said.

Small businesses play an important role in so many communities. By having Small Business Saturday, they are able to kick off the holiday season with a step in the right direction.

“Many places in West Virginia, they’re the backbone of the community. So, they need to have a good shopping day to get them off to a good start for the major retail season of the year,” Roberts said.

“It’s not just about us, it’s not just about what they are buying, it’s about the support that they are giving us and our community, and it feels incredible,” Dent said.
