West Virginia lawmakers to discuss tax cuts, childcare support at upcoming special session on Sept. 30

The special session of the West Virginia Legislature will start on Sept. 30 where lawmakers will discuss tax cuts, childcare support and supplemental fund appropriation.
Gov. Jim Justice (R-WV) announced this on Monday afternoon. He said the final details are still being worked out.
“We’ve got to get things across the finish line,” Gov. Justice said. “I promised you that I would stand up and fight like crazy for you in trying to get another 5% tax cut for you. I promised you I would try to help out with childcare, and, absolutely, try to get our tax break across the finish line with childcare.”
The governor has been wanting lawmakers to give workers in West Virginia an additional 5% cut in their income taxes, and many in both parties are hoping for childcare subsidies and tax credits, to ease the burden on working families.
