West Virginia, U.S. Chambers Extend Statewide Advocacy Campaign Thanking Senator Manchin for Putting West Virginians First, Stopping Reconciliation

May 11, 2022

Charleston, W.Va. – Today, the West Virginia and U.S. Chambers of Commerce announced an extension to their statewide advocacy campaign thanking Senator Joe Manchin for putting West Virginians first as a new version of Build Back Better looms.

The expanded campaign includes radio advertising and other activities expressing support for Senator Manchin as he continues to put West Virginians first by raising concerns about how the President’s proposed tax hikes will add to inflation. The new radio spot, “Thank You, Joe, Part 2”, thanks the Senator for standing up for West Virginians and urges him to oppose the new tax proposal.

“Senator Manchin is among the most watched and listened to leaders of the United States Senate,” said West Virginia Chamber of Commerce President Steve Roberts. “He has a large national audience. He represents West Virginia values and is key to our nation’s security and success.”

The advocacy campaign coincides with a new U.S. Chamber poll that found while 78% of West Virginia voters are pessimistic about the national environment, 54% of voters still view Senator Manchin favorably and 56% oppose a new, smaller version of a Biden social spending plan.

“Thank You, Joe, Part 2” Transcript

Senator Manchin, thank you for standing with us and stopping Biden’s big tax and spending bill. Thank you for saying NO to this legislation, which was pushed by the far left. Joe, you had West Virginia’s back. You stood up for us.

But Senator, we‘re worried about inflation. Everything costs more.

West Virginia is against Biden’s new version of this big tax bill. And Senator, we need you to stand with us again. Biden’s legislation will raise taxes on coal companies, kill jobs we need and spend way more money – causing inflation to get even worse.

We don’t need more legislation only pushed by one party. We want bipartisan solutions that help our small businesses and also lower gas prices.

Please call Sen. Manchin. Thank him for fighting for us and ask him to oppose Biden’s new tax bill and H.R. fifty three seventy six. It will raise prices for West Virginians even higher than they are now.

Paid for by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and supported by the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce.
