West Virginia Chamber of Commerce PAC Endorses Shelley Moore Capito for U.S. Senate
March 24, 2026
Charleston, W.Va. – The West Virginia Chamber Political Action Committee proudly endorses Senator Shelley Moore Capito in her re-election bid for the United States Senate. Senator Capito has served our state faithfully for over 11 years in the Senate, following 14 years of distinguished service in the U.S. House of Representatives.
As the first woman elected to the Senate from West Virginia, Senator Capito has demonstrated unwavering dedication by advocating for and voting for policies that incentivize economic growth and promote business within our state and beyond. Furthermore, Senator Capito remains committed to national security and the advancement of legal commerce, ensuring a prosperous future for all West Virginians.
As a senior member of the U.S. Senate and Chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee, Senator Capito has focused her tenure on improving infrastructure, economic development, and health care—all pressing issues for West Virginia.
She has sponsored and supported landmark legislation that has improved the lives of millions, including the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the Childhood Cancer STAR Act, and the Rural Broadband Protection Act, which is vital for helping isolated Appalachian communities bridge the digital divide. Furthermore, a primary focus of her leadership has been streamlining permit processes and supporting coal mine communities, ensuring that the backbone of West Virginia’s economy is never forgotten. Her recent success in securing critical funding for rural health care and water infrastructure in the FY26 appropriations further cements her role as a tireless champion for our state.
Beyond her policy leadership, Senator Capito’s senior role on the Senate Appropriations Committee has been a game-changer for our state’s fiscal health. As Chairman of the Labor, Health & Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee, she sits at the controls of federal spending, personally securing record levels of Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) for West Virginia. Her unique position has allowed her to bypass Washington gridlock and deliver direct funding for our local law enforcement, aviation programs at Marshall University, and critical water infrastructure projects in every corner of the Mountain State, from Huntington to Harpers Ferry.
Her role is massive for West Virginia because that specific subcommittee oversees the budgets for the National Institutes for Health, the Centers for Disease Control, and the Department of Education—directing billions toward rural health and the opioid crisis.
“In her role as Chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and a member of the Appropriations Committee, Senator Capito is the most powerful voice for West Virginia infrastructure and economic growth. She doesn’t just talk about bringing jobs home; she delivers the legislative results that make it possible. The West Virginia Chamber is proud to stand with her because she has consistently proven that she understands the needs of our employers and the workers who drive our state forward.” — Steve Roberts, President, West Virginia Chamber of Commerce
