New annual report provides data-driven look at West Virginia’s economic competitiveness and key challenges
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Chamber of Commerce has released the 2026 West Virginia Campaign for Jobs Digest, an annual publication tracking key measures of the state’s economic health and competitiveness.
The 2026 Digest was unveiled during the Chamber’s 90th Annual Meeting & Business Summit at The Greenbrier, bringing together business, government, education and community leaders from across West Virginia to examine the opportunities and challenges facing the state.
The Digest provides a data-driven look at where West Virginia is making progress, where the state continues to lag behind other states and where there are opportunities to strengthen the state’s economy and quality of life.
“Data matters because it gives us a clear picture of where we are and helps us identify where we need to go,” Steve Roberts, President of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce, said. “The Campaign for Jobs Digest is an important tool for business leaders, policymakers and community advocates who are committed to making West Virginia more competitive and creating greater opportunities for the people who call our state home.”
The publication examines key economic indicators and rankings, providing comparisons that help put West Virginia’s performance into perspective. While the Digest highlights encouraging areas of progress, it also identifies challenges that will require continued attention from state and community leaders.
Accompanying the Digest is the West Virginia Dashboard, which provides a quick snapshot of key rankings and economic indicators. The online resource is designed to make important data more accessible and easier to understand for those working to improve West Virginia’s economic outlook.
“As we celebrate 90 years of the West Virginia Chamber, we are also looking ahead. Understanding where we stand today is critical to building on our successes and addressing the challenges that remain,” Roberts said.
The 2026 Campaign for Jobs Digest continues the Chamber’s longstanding commitment to tracking West Virginia’s economic performance and advocating for policies that encourage investment, job creation, workforce growth and a stronger business climate.
