West Virginia Chamber of Commerce PAC Announces First Round of Endorsements

Charleston, W.Va. – The West Virginia Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee has announced its first round of endorsements for the May 2022 Primary Election in West Virginia. The first official announcement from the Chamber PAC occurred yesterday when members of the Chamber team traveled to Clarksburg and Wheeling for two separate roundtable discussions followed by an announcement that the Chamber PAC had endorsed Rep. David B. McKinley in the primary for the new 2nd Congressional District.

West Virginia Chamber President Steve Roberts stated, “the West Virginia Chamber’s endorsement process is member-driven. Our members are located in all fifty-five counties of West Virginia and employ over half of West Virginia’s workforce. These members are also engaged in every economic and industrial sector in the state. The Chamber PAC listens closely to these members when making decisions about who to endorse.”

In races for the West Virginia Legislature, endorsements are based on an incumbent’s voting record and their general work on advancing economic development. For non-incumbents, candidate questionnaires and interviews play an important role in helping to determine how a candidate will work as a member of the legislature.

Roberts continued, “The West Virginia Chamber PAC is still interviewing candidates and making decisions in a number of races, but we are excited to roll out the list of first-round endorsements. We are very optimistic about the quality of candidates that are running this year and for our opportunities to continue making West Virginia a better place to live, work and raise a family.”
