Bookmark and Share Senator Ryan Weld Recognized by West Virginia Chamber of Commerce as a Champion of Free Enterprise

August 24, 2020

Wheeling, W.Va. – The West Virginia Chamber of Commerce recognized West Virginia State Senator Ryan Weld as one of its “Champions of Free Enterprise” on Friday. The award was presented at the offices of the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce by Brian Dayton, Vice President of Policy & Advocacy for the West Virginia Chamber.

Brian Dayton stated, “Senator Weld has been one of the strongest voices in the Legislature for the enactment of policies that lead to more economic development, job creation, improved education outcomes, and better lives for the citizens of this state. His receiving this award is long overdue.”

West Virginia Chamber President Steve Roberts commented, “Ryan Weld is one of the most thoughtful individuals serving in the Legislature. He thoroughly examines every issue that comes before him and closely analyzes how it will impact the 1st District, the State of West Virginia, and the people he serves. He is also seen as one of the leading voices on taking care of our veterans and ensuring better mental health care in our state.”

During the 2020 Legislative Session, Senator Weld successfully led the effort in the Senate to save hundreds of jobs in the racing industry, clearly demonstrating his skills as a member of the West Virginia Senate.

After receiving the award, Senator Weld stated, “I am truly humbled to receive the Champion of Free Enterprise Award from the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce. Every day I am honored that I have the opportunity to serve the citizens of Brooke, Hancock, Marshall and Ohio counties, and I will never stop working to improve opportunities and the future of my constituents.”
