Uniting Business, Igniting Prosperity

West Virginia businesses stand united and strong as we usher in a new era for West Virginia.

Our cover story highlights gubernatorial candidates Attorney General Patrick Morrisey and Huntington Mayor Steve Williams who are both vying to be West Virginia’s 37th governor. For the first time in eight years, West Virginia will have a new leader in its top political spot. Gov. Jim Justice, who has served as governor since 2017, will officially end his second term in January 2025.

Both candidates answer questions from the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce and lay out their vision for West Virginia’s future, providing their solutions for some of West Virginia’s most pressing issues: education and student progress, population decline, the workforce shortage and labor participation rate, improving West Virginia’s business climate and more. Voters will decide West Virginia’s future when they head to the polls on Nov. 5.

We’re also taking a closer look at the Eastern Panhandle to see the enormous impact Procter & Gamble has had in Berkeley County. Their $500 million state-of-the-art location, known as Tabler Station, is one of the company’s largest facilities in the world, manufacturing popular products from household names like Pantene, Old Spice, Swiffer, Gain and more.

Even though summer has just begun, we are all eagerly anticipating this year’s Annual Meeting & Business Summit with the appropriate theme of “Uniting Business, Igniting Prosperity.”

With more pre-event success than ever this year, attendees can expect a dynamic and enriching experience that fosters collaboration, innovation and growth. In the following pages, readers will get a preview of the Chamber’s 88th Annual Meeting & Business Summit, a place where people can come together to fellowship, exchange ideas and work together for a better future.

Finally, it is great to report the West Virginia Chamber is healthy, optimistic, strong and rapidly growing. As always, we appreciate you. Your strong support enables us to stimulate and catalyze more progress for our great state.

We hope you enjoy this edition of Chamber Magazine as we look toward a West Virginia that is healthier, wealthier and wiser just on the horizon.
