IMPORTANT COVID SAFETY INFORMATION
The West Virginia Chamber of Commerce is closely monitoring the COVID-19 Delta Variant that has caused an uptick in cases around the country. Below are some steps the Chamber is taking to have a safe and enjoyable event September 1-3
Vaccinations: The COVID-19 vaccine is the most successful method to prevent yourself from contracting COVID-19. The vaccine means more freedom. Freedom to conduct commerce, freedom to interact, and freedom to return to normal. Past surveys of the Chamber’s membership indicate a very high percentage of members taking the vaccine. We are encouraging all attendees – and members – who have not yet to taken the vaccine to get it. Vaccinating more individuals is the only way to put a complete end to this pandemic. If you are not yet vaccinated, we strongly encourage you to assess the potential personal health risks of attending this meeting.
Masks: The wearing of masks is known to help avoid catching or spreading the virus. All are welcome to wear masks. While we believe any unvaccinated people are putting themselves at greater risk, the unvaccinated are most strongly encouraged to avoid crowds like the one expected for the Annual Meeting and Business Summit.
Hand Shaking: We all know that the natural method of greeting someone – especially in a business setting – is to shake their hand. Given the rise of the Delta Variant, we are asking that all attendees refrain from shaking hands with each other at this meeting. We know that this can be a bit awkward, but avoiding it will help reduce physical contact. If you inadvertently forget and attempt to shake someone’s hand and they refuse, please don’t be offended. Additionally, hand-sanitizing stations will be available throughout the hotel and meeting space.
Any COVID-like Symptoms: This goes without saying, but if you are experiencing ANY COVID-like symptoms, DO NOT ATTEND the Business Summit. If you are present at the meeting and begin to feel ill for any reason, medical students from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine will be on site and can assist you.
The West Virginia Chamber of Commerce is looking forward to this year’s Annual Meeting and Business Summit. All of us are eager to “return to normal” and resume events such as this. We hope that these steps will assist with keeping everyone safe and healthy. Again, we strongly encourage vaccinations for anyone who has not yet done so.
