West Virginia Chamber 80th Annual Meeting and Business Summit to Attract Record Crowd

August 23, 2016

Charleston, W.Va. – When the 80th Annual Meeting and Business Summit of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce opens on August 31 at The Greenbrier Resort, the Chamber will welcome the largest crowd to ever attend the annual event. Over 900 participants are registered for the three-day meeting that is the largest gathering of business, education and policy leaders in West Virginia.

The West Virginia Chamber of Commerce is our state’s solutions-based, voluntary membership organization of the state’s premier employers. This year’s meeting is supported by a record amount of sponsorships. The Chamber will welcome nearly 40 new members into its membership at the Annual Meeting.
Chamber President Steve Roberts said, “The West Virginia Chamber is excited to help address some of the most pressing issues facing West Virginia. We are optimistic about the progress that is being made to help boost job creation opportunities. Important legal reforms, education improvements, and substantial regulatory reforms have been among the topics addressed by the current jobs-oriented West Virginia Legislature.”

Roberts continued, “At this year’s Annual Meeting and Business Summit we will be placing a great deal of attention on the opioid drug crisis and what can be done to assist those who desperately need help. The last two years have seen major success in improving the jobs climate in West Virginia, and we must work to ensure that we have a drug-free, well educated workforce who can fill the jobs as opportunities open up.”

Speakers at the West Virginia Chamber’s 80th Annual Meeting & Business Summit include legendary college football coach and West Virginia native, Lou Holtz, Senators Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito, Representatives David McKinley, Alex Mooney and Evan Jenkins, gubernatorial candidates Bill Cole and Jim Justice, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Senior Vice-President Rob Engstrom, and Rex Repass, who will present the results of the WV Poll.

West Virginia Chamber members wishing to attend the 80th Annual Meeting and Business Summit are encouraged to register at www.wvchamber.com or call (304) 342-1115.
