West Virginia Chamber Annual Meeting & Business Summit Draws Record Attendance

August 20, 2014

Charleston, W.Va. – When the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s 78th Annual Meeting & Business Summit opens next Wednesday, August 27 at The Greenbrier, it will do so with a record attendance of nearly 800 registrants. The three-day meeting is the state’s largest gathering of business, education and policy leaders. Chamber President Steve Roberts noted, “Over the past decade the West Virginia Chamber’s Annual Meeting attendance has grown each year, due in no small part to the growing number of issues threatening the state’s jobs climate. This year our meeting will concentrate on the trifecta of issues that we need to address immediately … Energy, Education & Elections.”

“The Chamber is at the forefront of the battle to protect the and grow state’s energy industry. We also are leading efforts to improve education in the state to ensure West Virginia’s students are well prepared to compete in the global economy. Additionally, we will hear from Governor Tomblin, Senator Manchin, Congresswoman Capito and the major party candidates for the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.

This year’s Annual Meeting & Business Summit will host an all-star lineup of featured speakers including: Dr. Larry Sabato, noted national political analyst, Fox News anchor & New York Times Best-Selling author Bret Baier, XTO Energy President Randy Cleveland, Governor Earl Ray Tomblin, and the release of a new WV Poll by Rex Repass. Attendees will also hear from candidates for the U. S. Senate and U. S. House of Representatives including Shelley Moore Capito, Natalie Tennant, David B. McKinley, Glen Gainer, Alex Mooney, Nick Casey and Evan Jenkins. Discussion will also focus on the state’s education system, energy and the environment and the upcoming General Election.
