West Virginia Chamber Applauds Congresswoman Carol Miller for Vote on Debt Limit Deal
June 1, 2023
Charleston, W.Va. – The West Virginia Chamber of Commerce is applauding the passage in the U.S. House of Representatives of the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023 and thanking Congresswoman Carol Miller for her support of this important bill.
West Virginia Chamber President Steve Roberts stated, “Last night’s vote in the U.S. House of Representatives was historic and takes an important step to reigning in spending by the federal government. Our ever-growing national debt is a problem that will face our children and grandchildren, and this bill makes that problem a little easier to fix.”
Roberts continued, “Importantly for West Virginia, this bill will end the madness from fringe environmental groups surrounding the Mountain Valley Pipeline and get this critical energy project completed. Our nation’s energy security will be enhanced by the completion of this pipeline and West Virginia’s vast energy resources will be put to good use.”
Former West Virginia Congressman and current U.S. Chamber of Commerce Senior Vice President Evan Jenkins wrote, “Voting for this bill helps avert a potentially catastrophic default and lost job opportunities, and will ensure the full faith and credit of our nation is maintained. This act of fiscal prudence will set a crucial precedent for responsible governance and bipartisan cooperation.”
The Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023 must now pass the U.S. Senate before going to the President’s desk for his signature.
Roberts concluded, “I want to personally thank Congresswoman Carol Miller on behalf of the West Virginia Chamber and its members for making this important vote. Congresswoman Miller is a true leader for West Virginia.”
