West Virginia Chamber of Commerce summit begins Wednesday (WV MetroNews)

August 27, 2019

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Meeting and Business Summit begins Wednesday at the Greenbrier, in which leaders in business, education and policy will speak on the business climate and other issues in the Mountain State.

More than 1,000 people are expected to attend the three-day summit; this year’s theme is “Celebrating Success.”

Steve Roberts, president of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce, said the state is on the right path when it comes to its business environment, noting the state leads the country in job growth, wage growth and GDP growth.

“We’re here to talk about how to do that and how resources in business and industry can be used to help assure a very good future for all of us in West Virginia,” he said.

Among the scheduled speakers are Gov. Jim Justice; U.S. Sens. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., and Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va.; state Attorney General Patrick Morrisey; and the state’s three members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Roberts said lawmakers come to learn from leaders and experts about the most pressing issues in West Virginia, as well as how things have changed in the state.

The summit begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday with a meeting of the chamber’s Board of Directors.
