West Virginia Chamber outlines workforce push; new grants offered for flood-hit businesses

November 21, 2025

WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) The West Virginia Chamber of Commerce held a breakfast at Newbridge Cafe this morning, bringing together the Regional Economic Development Partnership and many area leaders and business owners.

The Chamber of Commerce spoke on a wide variety of topics, including workforce development.

The goal is to attract more businesses to West Virginia and have a workforce ready to fill those jobs.

“Workforce is really the biggest issue facing employers in West Virginia. And we’re listening to employers, educators, representatives of workers to see what we can do to help people get into the workplace.”

Steve Roberts – President, WV  Chamber of Commerce

“The West Virginia Chamber of Commerce is the state’s largest business advocacy organization. We have over 5000 members in every area and community of the state. And our members collectively employ more than half of the state’s workforce.”

Elizabeth House – Executive Director, WV Chamber of Commerce Foundation

The West Virginia Chamber of Commerce Foundation announced a grant opportunity for businesses affected by June’s flash flooding.

Many businesses lost everything in the flood and are still in the process of recovery.

Grants range from five hundred to one thousand dollars, and you can find more information by following the link: 2025 West Virginia Flooding Relief – WV Chamber of Commerce
