WV Chamber celebrates Wyoming County students’ national win in Samsung competition

April 16, 2026

The West Virginia Chamber and its foundation are honoring Huff Consolidated students after their national recognition and $110,000 award in Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow competition.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Chamber of Commerce and the West Virginia Chamber Foundation are recognizing students from Huff Consolidated Elementary and Middle School for their national success in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition.

The Wyoming County team earned the Community Choice Vote and finished among the top three teams in the nation with a student-designed water filtration system aimed at addressing local water quality issues.

The achievement also brought $110,000 in classroom technology and resources to the school, supporting future learning opportunities for students.

“The West Virginia Chamber is incredibly proud of these students for proving that West Virginia’s youth can compete and win on the national stage,” Steve Roberts, President of the West Virginia Chamber, said. “Their work demonstrates the kind of innovation and dedication that will help shape West Virginia’s future.”

Chamber officials said the recognition highlights the importance of strengthening K-12 education and preparing students with skills needed in a changing workforce. The organization continues to advocate for policies that expand educational resources and encourage innovation across the state.

The Chamber and its foundation also congratulated the students, educators and the Wyoming County community for their accomplishment.
